Position: Faith Formation Director

Primary Function:
The Faith Formation Director supports the faith development of the parish community, from birth through adulthood. With the pastor, oversees all parish catechetical programs for all ages and stages of Spiritual development.


Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Plans, implements, and evaluates catechetical programs for all ages.
• Recruitment, formation, ongoing development, and evaluation of catechists and volunteers.
• Assist in liturgical planning as connected to catechetical and sacramental programs.
• Attend to own personal, spiritual, and professional development.

Specific Duties:

• Research and purchase curriculum for catechetical programs for all ages, children's liturgy and OCIA.
• Provide and schedule formational opportunities for all ages and stages of faith development, including the sacraments. Support the formation of parish staff and council members.
• Recruit and train employees, catechists and substitutes as needed.
• Assist the office manager in ensuring all catechists and volunteers have the appropriate credentials, including fingerprints, background checks and training. Pursue diocesan certification and follow diocesan polices.
• Manage the Faith Formation budget. Participate in annual budget planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education:

• Must be a practicing Catholic.
• Be a qualified catechetical leader, or willing to pursue further education as a catechetical leader.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
• Some experience in management and technology is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a catechist is preferred.
